Dua Lipa’s Bold New Hair Color: A First-Time Hue!

Have you ever come across a hair color that is simply too amazing to handle? It’s undeniably rude, especially if you’re in the same boat as me. I’ve been trying to convince myself not to splurge on a new hair color because my current one is good enough, but now I find myself justifying why I deserve a little hair makeover after seeing Dua Lipa’s stunning new hair color. It’s safe to say that her unprecedented hair transformation is slowly taking over my life.

On Thursday, October 12, Lipa seemed to be in a mysterious mood. She not only archived all her past posts on Instagram but also shared a new photo with a curious caption that read, “Miss me?” This is puzzling because she has been quite present lately with her song “Dance the Night” from the Barbie soundtrack being played everywhere for several months. However, it’s difficult to ignore the intrigue of the situation as the photo features a hair color that is entirely new to us.

Lipa, who typically sports a super dark brunette shade, has recently switched to a rich and deep burgundy hair color that exudes vibrancy. This cool-toned hue is not exactly an auburn but rather a mixture of deep purply-red, which we refer to as “mulled wine.” Although it is not a natural hair color, it still feels real and grounded. According to stylist Rachel Bodt, this shade looks incredibly dimensional, youthful, and contemporary, making it a modern way to pull off deep red. Judging by the recent Instagram post, it seems like colorist Ben Gregory might be responsible for Lipa’s new hair color since he has previously colored her hair, creating some of her most iconic looks, such as her pitch-black boldness at the Met Gala earlier this year.

While Lipa hasn’t exactly tried this color before, she has experimented with similar hues in the past. She sported a red wig for a Versace ad campaign and a bright pink one for Puma. However, it’s unlikely that she’s wearing a wig this time around since she’s never been afraid to change up her hair color. Let’s not forget her iconic two-toned look from before!

I’m looking forward to seeing more pictures of this fresh shade. It would be great to have a few additional shots taken in different lighting so I can show my colorist.
